A Summary of Dynamic Spectrum Allocation Results from DRiVE

This paper presents a summary of some of the results on dynamic spectrum allocation (DSA) that have been obtained as part of the DRiVE project. During this project two main aspects of DSA were investigated. Temporal DSA attempts to adapt the spectrum allocations of networks to time-varying loads, and spatial DSA adjusts spectrum allocations according to the load demands of different regions. This paper gives an overview of the temporal DSA algorithm, and presents a summary of some investigations and results into its performance and potential for increasing spectrum efficiency. Likewise, for spatial DSA, it describes the method used for adapting the spectrum allocations over regions, and summarises the results on its performance.
